Charlene Nunn http://charlenenunn.be-more.org/ Charlene Nunn Tue, 16 Mar 10 17:00:59 +0100 weekend 3- hhluwhe park safari and other stuff!! http://charlenenunn.be-more.org/6/weekend%203-%20hhluwhe%20park%20safari%20and%20other%20stuff%21%21%20.html
well went to the safari park and the boat trip starting on friday and really had a fab time! loved every minute of it. we also went to a cheetah park where i stood a few feet away form the cheetah scary ay!!!
The safari was an early and freezing start on saturday morning, rising at 5am!! (4am uk time) like oh my goodness it was cold!! and way too early for me!!
we started on friday morning and left here at the bluff at 6 am and made our way to northern Kwa zulu Natal! it was a lovely morning! but we went to the boat ride first! we saw lots and lots of crocodiles and hippos in the river which was really good! managed to get very close to the hippos but they are very dangerous and so we stayed far enough away or they attck the boat apparently!!!then we went to the cheetah farm rehabilitation centre and it was very nice!! tehre were many cats and they were all very pretty!!
we then went back to the house for dinner and had an early nights rest ready for the early rise the following morning!!
Woke up at 5am on saturday and had a lovely freezing and windy drive to the game park!! it was dark and very cold when we left at 6am~! when we got to the park it was amazing everything i expoected and more. saw loads of animals and saw 4 out of 5 of the big 5!!! never saw any lions but saw the elephant, giraffes that were very close!, loads of zebras, buffalos and of course the rhinos!! there were loads of animals and i stood very close to a zebra when i had a cheeky moment and i wanted to get closer so that is what i did. But it was a very good day and the animals were all beautiful!! something i have always wanted to do an dit was definately worth it!! for sure!! we then finished at the aprk and made our way back to the bluff!!! once again had an early night sleep!!! yay!
Sunday was a good day as we decided to take all the children to the beach as we thought they deserved to all go out! we had a fab time, the weather was lovely and the beaches are gorgeous here!!
took plenty of pictures of the children and other stuff too!! they enjoyed them selves though which is the ain thing. When we got back to the house me and maryt decided to go out for a meal! which was fun but very interesting as some Austrailian man was being a rite fool and he was really drunk but he heard that we were from Holland and the uk and that was it did not want to leave us alone!! so we had his company for the night! very funny man but was 40 odd and had long hair and said he was a surfer dude!! he was very strange tho but made our night!! haha!! ozzy u rock man!!! haha
had a very good weekend though.
Wishing mum the very best of getting better. Love being with the children they are just so full of spirit! each and every one of them. The weather was a bit better today but it was very windy! We had banana, apple, peaches, marshmellows, chocolate sauce, fresh cream and syrup! i was goo and had the ancakes but with apple and peaches! no syrup nor chocolate sauce!! go me! been very healthy out here so i best lose weight!! I will try to add as many pictures on here as possible but take far too long to upload onto here. Having a great time with the children most of this week has been using the video camera but will be getting more pictures of the children as time goes by!! This weekend has been good went to the Drakensburg Mountains, left at 6am yesterday and went for a day trip to sani pass (across a border into the Sani Pass country and so needed my passport). Then went to the highest pub in Africa!! it was lovely very cold though, -3 degrees!! Then stayed in a Backpackers accommodation which was freezing. went hiking for 3 hours at 7.30 am, which i did not like!! im so clumsy footed and probably moaned the whole way!! an experience never to be done again unless im dragged!! haha. then went for a 2hour horse trail! which was so much fun! I rode 2 horses one called beauty and one which didnt have a name! they were both lovely. When we stopped off though at the top of the mountain, the second horse i rode or shall i say pony ran off!! not funny!!
the children are lovely here and really do have horrid backgrounds that nobody could believe, but as sweet as they are they can be tiring and a handful, but i give my respect to Glynnis and her husband who run it and those who are here everyday to help with everything as i now know it is never easy! but im truely gteatful to be taking part in such an experience and im looking forward to the next 6 and a bit weeks here. Being away from the children this weekend was actually quite a bum, as they keep everything happy! just their little faces and the way they are. The youngest is Isiaiah and he is 10months old and the eldest is Wendy who is 19 years old.
It very nice here though and for winter it is very warm. it's probably not as hot as in UK!! haha, typical!
Much love to everyone though and hope you like the pictures ive added!! Keep in touch and love to all. Love you's xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
P.s. Thank you grandma and grandad miss u too. Im rather excited and I just cannot wait to go. The flights slightly long 20 odd hours with 3 stops. But I dont mind flying. As some of you may know I am taking part in Isiaiah 54 on 21st July till 13th September this year in Durban..
I somehow cant imagine what it is going to be like out there, I have heard good things and bad things about it there but however it still doesn't rule out my excitement. I will taking part in the project with 2 others who are from Holland by the looks of it.
Aswell as leaving my lovely boyfriend and my family behind, I believe this is going to a one life changing opportunity, that I just do not want to miss and I just want to go out and help other people.
Well the next time I write on here will most likely be when I get there as soon as I can get to the Internet.
Will keep all posted.....
Wed, 11 Jun 08 10:23:40 +0200
